Pro-life momentum in 2012
Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow
2011 was a good year for the pro-life movement, and a spokesman for one group expects 2012 to present its own major challenges.

According to Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League, the first challenge for 2012 is to keep the momentum.

“We’ve had so many successes in 2011—the fight to de-fund Planned Parenthood that led to historic votes in the House of Representatives and the Senate, meetings with the president over the issue,” Scheidler notes. “He’s standing firm behind Planned Parenthood at the federal level, but we’ve de-funded them in many of the states.”

According to Scheidler, the push against ObamaCare and its pro-abortion provisions is also a challenge as pro-lifers work to claim victories in elections, “building on the 2010 election, where so many pro-life candidates were swept into office not only at the federal level, but also at the state and even local level, and really score especially on the federal level.” He suggests “a change to a pro-life leadership in the Senate to match what we already have in political leadership the House and also in the White House would be a tremendous change.”

Finally, Scheidler contends the U.S. needs to focus on maintaining and growing pro-life strength at the grassroots level.
